Architecture Competition: Design an Innovative and Sustainable Floating Marina

Monaco Smart & Sustainable Marina Rendezvous – 22 & 23 September – Yacht Club de Monaco

All architects and students are invited to participate to the call for ideas 2024 during the 4th Monaco Smart & Sustainable Marina Rendezvous and to design a floating marina in the sensitive calanques area of Marseille, and more specifically in the Calanque de Sormiou.

With the aim of facing climate challenge and preserving the environment, in particular the Posidonia of the Mediterranean Sea, while satisfying the needs of yachtsmen during the season, this protectionist architectural competition encourages the use of innovative materials, functionalities and low-energy technologies to promote sustainability and preserve biodiversity in the marina sector.

In addition to the ingenuity of architects and engineers in the design of infrastructures, a floating marina can also become an interdisciplinary platform, serving as a base for the study and collection of information on marine life, and as a place to raise community awareness of plastic waste and the preservation of flora and fauna.

The International jury members will be joined this year by well renowned architecture firms such as Effie Nakajima – Senior Associate of  Zaha Hadid Architects, Jean Michel Wilmotte – Architect & Urbanist from  Wilmotte & Associés, Ouafia Djebar Brookes – Associate Architect of  L’Agence Française, Dan Lenard – Designer and CoFounder of  Nuvolari Lenard, Luca Racioppo – Director of  Progetto CMR, Lola Rozewicz – Architect from  Studio Ani, and Andrea Mosca – Founder and architect from  Andrea Mosca Creative Studio.

Professional Architects and Students will have the opportunity to gain global recognition, network with industry leaders, and inspire future generations of marina architects. The distinguished panel of judges will rigorously evaluate each submission based on criteria such as innovation, sustainability, aesthetics, and functionality to select the top 5 while the winners will be selected on site by the Public.

The winners, in both categories Professional & Student, of the Smart Marina Architecture Award will be announced at a grand cocktail ceremony closing this annual event alongside with the Innovations and Marina Awards, where they will be celebrated for their outstanding contributions to the field. Their projects will also be showcased in various industry publications and digital platforms, further elevating their international exposure.
